2. After lunch today we will have a talk by Jayshreeben  Joshi from Harrow Mencap, who will give a talk on Harrow carers and as usual at Tea Time, Kendra will provide tea and biscuits. Please note that tea will be served to you on your chair, hence no one should get up and go to the serving table.

Today we had a talk from Varsha Bavishi and Jayshree Joshi, both working for MENCAP, and the talk was on the subject of carers. While Harrow has estimated 60,000 carers only 5000 are registered – and specially amongst Indian community registration is very low. We plan to arrange for registration and request all members to register. Whether you are looking after some one full time or for a few hours a day you can register as carer. While one would not get any direct benefits as such, they can get advice and help when required BUT most important that as a community we should register and take full advantage of its advantages.

3. Last Tuesday  80 members went to see the film show ‘Mary Kom, and 40 had joined in the lunch.  They all had a good time.

4.  Next Thursday -13th November we will have a discussion programme on the topic : What did we achieve or learnt something new after first arriving in this country. Jasuben Sheth announced the names of those taking part and requested all to come prepared.  Maximum time -3minutes.

10. Jayantbhai Doshi announced the following :

NVK took part in Walk & Talk project initiated by Cancer Awareness. We got a grant of £500.00 towards taking part. 30 members walked for 30 minutes for 10 weeks and results were recorded on form. Also on 30th October a talk was given and small presents given to all participants. Cost of providing refreshments to those that took part came to £145.00. Pragna Mandalia and Ella Shah put a lot of effort in all the arrangements. Those who took part were very excited about walking with friends and a suggestion has been made that this should become a regular feature. It is a fact that walking improves health and prevents many illnesses. It has been decided that from next week those who are interested will come early and walk from 10.15 till 10.45 and come for yoga after that. Members are requested to take their places for yoga without causing much noise.

There was some problem in showing the film on Tuesday.  However, everything was sorted out and the film ‘Mary Kom’ was shown, which was enjoyed by all.

11.  Dhirubhai Galani and Vinodbhai Kapashi announced about the forthcoming visit of a learned lady who will soon obtain ‘Diksha’.
