NAVJIVAN VADIL KENDRA- ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURS – 27th OCT 2016
ON BEHALF OF KENDRA, WE WISH ALL MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES “AAP SAUNE SUBH DIPAWALI ANE NUTAN VARSHABHINANDAN.  DIWALI NA DIVDAO TAMARA ANTTAR NE ZAGMAGAVE”
1). DONATIONS:  * Today’s lunch is sponsored by Ushaben Mehta in memory of her late husband – Surendrabhai Mehta.  Today, her whole family is present with her grand-children so that they can enjoy the fellowship in Kendra.  Kendra’s many thanks to her.
   * DIWALI DONATIONS : £50 from Adarsh Gujaral – she always remembers us during Diwali.              £21 from Bhartiben Kotecha.  Many thanks to both of them.
* Krishnaben Mehta brought candle lights decorated at home with ‘Om’, ‘sathio’, and designs, for distribution to all ladies.  Many thanks to her from Kendra.
                                               
2).  As is customary in Kendra to honour any member who reaches the wise age of 90 by bestowing a ‘saal’, immediately after lunch we will honour Juviben Shah who had already reached 90 years of age when she joined Kendra.
Our President and Secretary bestowed a ‘saal’ on Juviben and we wish she enjoys many more years enjoying the Kendra gatherings.
3). After lunch we will have ‘Ankut’ display organised by Krishnaben Mehta and as usual at tea time, Kendra will provide the sponsored Tea and Biscuits.
The ‘Ankut’ display was arranged on a big table next to the Stage.  Many members had brought various food dishes from home, nicely arranged.  Many thanks to all who brought these.
Jasuben recited a special poem on the Diwali ‘Ankut’ display; Nimaben Kakad and Ramaben Doshi sang a song on NVK and Krishnaben gave a brief description of why ‘Ankut’ is celebrated.
All these sumptuous food and ‘mithais’ was distributed to members during lunch and everyone had plenty to eat.

4).  Next Thurs – 3rd Nov we will celebrate Diwali with a full day Musical programme and Special lunch.  There will be no Yoga or Walk Group.  Members will have to book by buying the usual £1 ticket so that we can make appropriate arrangements.  Guests will be welcome for £15.

5). Those who are joining in the trip to Balaji Temple near Birmingham and Leicester to see the Diwali lights tomorrow are requested to arrive at the Kenton Library latest by 9.15 am with the tickets allocated to them.  The coach will start from Kenton Library at 9.30 am and we will start to return from Leicester at around 8.00 pm. Water bottles and food will be given by Kendra.

6). On Sat – 29th Oct, before you go to bed please put back your clocks back by one hour and enjoy an extra hour’s sleep.  The Daylight Saving Time ends on Sun – 30th Oct at 02 am in the morning (that is when the time will be 01 am)

7).  Renewal of membership for 2017 has started and members are requested to   complete the renewal form in every detail and hand over the same to Punambhai Patwa with payment of the £ 90 fees.  The deadline for renewal is 15th Dec 2016.  If you do not intend to renew your membership, please let us know.  Those who have already paid, should collect their receipts from the Main Table.

8).  On behalf of all members, we thank Ramaben J Doshi who gave to all lady members a hair bow and all gent members a tie pin or cuff links as presents, at the last two gatherings.   These were highly appreciated by members.

9).  Kendra had submitted a project to Aviva Community Fund and they have accepted our project which means we are entitled to a grant for the project.  However success will depend on the number of votes we can gather from members and public.  An email will be sent to members, please open the site and register and you will be entitled to vote. Please ensure that you and your family members all vote and also get your friends to vote.  Voting is now open until 18th Nov.

10).  All members who want to learn to play bridge should come on the upstairs conference room after lunch.

11).  We are pleased to inform members that this year our Treasurer – Punambhai Patwa has obtained Gift Aid amounting to £1987.54 on behalf of Kendra.  Many thanks to him for his hard work. 

12).  Vinod Parekh announced that those who are attending the Music programme next Thursday, must come with the Red tickets they have been issued with.  There will be no reservations of any seats and it will be whoever comes first can take any seat.  The programme will start at 11.00am and volunteers are requested to come early for help
