NAVJIVAN VADIL KENDRA – ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURS –28th Feb 19

1). Jayantbhai Doshi – Secretary thanked Rakesh for conducting the Yoga today.

2). Today’s Yoga tutor was Rakesh Sheth and he conducted Yogic poses to tone up many body joints.  Many thanks to him from Kendra.

3). DONATIONS: * “Mawa Penda” to be distributed to members at Lunch from Purnimaben and Mahendrabhai Mehta to celebrate the birth of their grand-son to daughter – Puja and son in law – Jayeshkumar in USA.  Our Heartiest congratulations to the grand parents and their family.
                             

                              * £25 from Hansakumari Mehta who celebrated her 80th birthday.  Heartiest congratulations and we pray that she enjoys many more birthdays to come.

4). After lunch today Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi will give a talk of the Statue of Unity – Sardar Vallabhbhai’s statue in India and as usual at Tea Time, Kendra will provide Tea and Biscuits.(Lunch menu included 'Gulab Jamun' and samosa)

Vinodbhai Kapashi gave a very detailed description, with the help of slides, of the colossal statue of Indian Statesman and independence activist –Sarda Vallbhbhai Patel, who was the first Home Minister of independent India and the chief adherent of Mahatma Gandhi during the non-violent Indian Independence movement.  He was highly respected for his leadership in uniting the 552 princely states of India to form the single large Union of India.  The world’s tallest statue with a height of 182 meters is located on a river island facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam on river Narmada - 100km Southeast of Vadodra.


              

 

 


5).  Next Thurs – 7/3 we have the whole day music programme and there will be no Yoga.  Dress Code is : Gents – Smart Dress and Ladies – Colourful Saris. There is “Free Seating” and members will not be allowed to reserve more than two chairs and kindly maintain silence when the singers are singing so that everyone can enjoy the same.  Also ensure that you produce your NVK ID with the ticket at the entrance.  Doors will open at 10.30 am

6).  There are some cancellations in the Torquay trip from Mon – 25th March to Fri – 29th March.  If you are interested in joining, give your names to Jayantbhai Doshi/Vinod Parekh.  (WE HAVE ALREADY GOT REPLACEMENTS NOW).

For all those joining in the tour, please note that the Pick-up point will be Sainsburys – Kenton at 8.45am on Monday -25/3

President – Vinod Parekh announced that :  * Under our “Sewa at Care Homes”, we visited Birchwood Care Home on Preston Hill with five members.  There were 25 residents and as usual we recited bhajans, stories and played Quiz.  All residents had good time and all had joined in singing together.  This was yet another very successful visit thanks to Purnimaben Mehta for organising this.

* There are 3 vacant places in the Torquay tour

* Please bring your tickets with the NVK –ID.

* Managing Committee members should come at 9.30 am to help in various duties.  Volunteers also should come early.
