ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURSDAY 4th JUNE 2015

Before the announcements, Manishaben informed members that during Yoga meditation there is a lot of noise coming from the Main Table and on arrival of members.  All members were requested to maintain complete silence.  Further Members should refrain from using their mobile phones in the Hall. This request is being announced by Kendra every few months. We request members to comply and ensure that there is no disturbance whilst Yoga is being conducted.

Our Hon. Secretary – Jayantbhai Doshi then announced that he would like to inform members of the wonderful news of the achievement by Kendra of the Queen’s Award.  He said that we are proud to be one of those few organisations (and possibly the first Gujarati organisation) to have such an honour bestowed in a short span of eight years of existence. He then informed that the President – Baburai Shah and him were invited to a Garden Party at the Buckingham Palace on 28th May.  He then called upon Baburai Shah to give details of this award.

Baburai Shah read out the actual award details.  The award is being given in recognition of outstanding voluntary services to the community.  He said that we were indeed proud to be one of the 187 charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups to receive the prestigious award this year.have bestowed with honour.  He compared the same to an MBE award.  All the members were highly pleased with the news of the award.

Both the President and the Secretary stated that we should all thank Dr Harshadbhai Sanghrajka for nominating us for this award and the credit goes to all the volunteers for their dedicated services.

Harshadbhai Sanghrajka then spoke very humbly that he was only instrumental in writing the nomination papers, but the actual honour for the award should be given to all the Kendra’s Committee members and volunteers who keep on doing the wonderful work and specially one of the organiser of Kendra and its first President – the late Pranlal Parekh.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

We are very proud to have received the prestigious award from the Queen and we shall distribute the paper with the award details to all members.

4.   For the Japan/Korea trip, 32 members went as 4 cancelled at the last minute, due to valid reasons.  The detailed report is in this month’s Newsletter.  However it is really marvellous to know that instead of a Manager from the tour company, our Hon Secretary – Jayantbhai Doshi took on the responsibility of Tour Manager.  He paid the full charge for the trip as everyone else, but he will be paid £4000 for taking that responsibility.  As usual – and he has very kindly donated all such remunerations to Kendra in the past – this time, too, he will donate this sum to Kendra.  This is indeed very generous of him and it is gratifying to know that Kendra has benefited several times whenever he has taken such responsibility on tours.  Our heartiest thanks to him.

5.  On 1st June those who went to see The LV County Championship match between Middlesex and Warwickshire at Lords Cricket Ground enjoyed the live match with best view, though the weather was rainy and very windy.  Later on some members had joined for the Tea and Biscuits at the MCC Academy to meet ‘future friends’.  Those who also saw the museum were delighted to see the history of cricket for over 250 years.
