ANNOUNCEMENTS MADE ON THURSDAY 7th AUGUST 2014
1.DONATIONS :Today’s lunch is sponsored by Urmilaben Shirishbhai Parikh to celebrate the 80th Birthday of Shirishbhai on 10th August. Kendra’s heartiest congratulations and Best wishes to him and everyone had joined in singing the ‘Happy Birthday’ song for him. We also pray that he enjoys many more birthdays to come. Thanks to Urmilaben for sponsoring the lunch.
‘Chaas’ for all the four Thursdays in August is sponsored by the Cutch Group of Ladies. Many thanks to all of them on behalf of Kendra.
2. After lunch today, Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi and Jasuben Sheth has organised a Quiz on the theme – ‘Rakshabandhan’ with songs and usual at Tea Time, Kendra will provide tea and biscuits. A very interesting quiz was conducted by Vinodbhai who asked participants sitting on the stage questions pertaining to Raksha Bandhan as well as other Hindu festivals.
3. On Tuesday,12th August we are going to arrange a grand summer picnic – a day outing at Willen Lake, Milton Keyes. We have booked two coaches and cost per member will be £15. You can bring your grandchildren – upto 12 years- cost £10. Names are to be given to Ellaben Shah. Kendra will provide all food but you will have to bring your own water.
4. We have arranged a 12 day trip to Turkey from 11th September. The trip is now full.
5. Last Thursday, our President – Baburai Shah gave full details of the deal made with Cineworld Satples Corner. Soon we will give more information.
6. Newsletter for August has been uploaded on our Website. A few hard copies are available for those members who do not have any access to emails. This can be collected later on.
7. Please note in your diary that we will not be meeting on Thursday -4th September as all the Halls have been booked. Instead we will meet on Wednesday -3rd Sept.
8. Lawn Bowling – 6 members have taken Lawn Bowling lessons and they are enjoying the same. However many others who had given their names have not contacted our Hon Secretary – Jayantbhai Doshi.
9. Navnat Vanik Association is holding their usual ‘Janmashtami Mela’ on this Saturday from 12 noon to 8pm at Hayes. There will be food stalls, children’s rides etc, Dances, Bhajans, Yoga etc. If you want hire a stall contact : Ramesh Shah.
10. National Council of Vanik Associations has posted the new Directory to all members who had registered. If any member has not received, please inform Manharbhai Mehta.
11. Everyone is requested to sign in the Register at the main Table including all guests. Guests should ensure to obtain Guest Pass from Vinod Parekh.
12. Jasuben Sheth informed members that next Thursday – 14th August, there will be a very interesting programme on Indian Independence Day with outside artists taking part. Everyone was requested to stay after lunch and participate in the programme.
13. Baburai Shah informed members that there is still 5 places left for the picnic to Milton Keynes on Tuesday. All those joining are requested to come to the Harrow Leisure Centre by 7.45 am as the coach will leave at 8.00 am. One bottle of water kindly donated by Shardaben Shah will be given to all. On reaching, there will be Yoga and a light breakfast will be served at 11.30 am and thereafter there will be free time, until 3.30pm when lunch will be served. We expect to depart at around 5.00 pm.
He also informed that the first show at the Cineworld will be the film ‘Kick’ on 8th September and Kendra has booked the whole theatre ( 100 seats).
