NVK’S SPONSORED MUSICAL PROGRAMME ON 28TH NOV 2019  AT SATTAVIS PATIDAR CENTRE

Today was a cold day with temperature of 6C, when we had our sponsored musical programme with special lunch menu.  The programme was sponsored by  Nanalal L Mehta and family in celebration of Nanalal's 80th birthday. As usual volunteers had come very early to decorate the Hall and also to finalise all preparations before the doors opened.  Members’ enthusiasm was so great that many arrived even before 10 am.  All were smartly dressed, ladies in colourful saris and gents in suits.

Two lady volunteers were in the foyer registering the names of members and guests and in the Hall two gents volunteers were checking Membership cards and tickets. On the left side of the entrance  Meenaxiben Ramesh Shah had displayed a Rangoli depicting "Happy Birthday".

By 10.45am the Hall was almost full and the music started sharp at 11.00 am.  The music group was led by Shirish Rana and Party.  Our Secretary, Jayantbhai Doshi welcomed all the members and guests and introduced the musicians.  The group started with 'Bhuli Bisri' yadein songs.  Their selection was good and all enjoyed the first part of the programme.

At 12.50 pm, we had a break and the sponsors for the programme were called near the stage.  The Joint Secretary - Purnimaben Mehta introduced Nanalal Mehta and his wife - Meenaben and said that Mehta family sponsored today's Special lunch and music to celebrate Nanalal's 80th birthday , which will be on 1st January 2020.  She congratulated the family and conveyed Best Wishes from Kendra.

The President - Vinod Parekh in his address greeted all on behalf of Kendra and said that he wanted to say a few words on the Kendra’s activities.  Today’s function was second 80th birthday celebration consecutively this month.  These members could have arranged their celebration with their family and friends at home or in restaurant, but they decided to celebrate with NVK members.  This clearly shows that we are all part of a ‘Big Family’.  This was a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday milestone – which was an important day in one’s life.  Such events do boost the fellowship among the members.  Today’s attendance is over 300 and all will have a memorable day.  Our founder members of NVK, and one of them is Jayantbhai Doshi who is with us today, and he will surely feel proud that their ideas and thoughts of launching an organisation that would care for the Senior citizens in the society will achieve such popularity.  In 2015 we were recipient of Queens Award for Voluntary services which was only possible due to the hard work of Executive Committee and all the members in all fields and activities.  Finally without our dedicated Volunteers and motivated work force, we could not have succeeded in our establishment of NVK.  Please give them a round of applause.  Thanking you for listening and enjoy the delicious lunch.

On behalf of Mehta family, Jasuben Sheth was called upon to recite a poem and then gave a brief background on Nanalal's journey in Mombasa and UK.  She praised his generosity in helping the needy members of the society.

The Vice President – Vinodbhai Kapashi gave Vote of Thanks to the Mehta family for sponsoring today’s programme which was enjoyed by all, Musicians, Volunteers, Sattavis Patidar Centre, Meera Caterers, Meenaxiben Shah for Rangoli and Manjuben Pindoria for the flower display.  Finally all the members who have turned out in such large numbers.
