NVJIVAN VADIL KENDRA – ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURS –20th June ‘19

1).  It is with deep regret and sadness that we inform the passing away of our member – Urmilaben Sanghrajka – Age 80 – on 14/6.  She was the wife of our member – Dhirendra Shamalji Sanghrajka. 

Also the mother of our member – Hansaben Mandalia and mother-in-law of our member – Surendrabhai Mandalia passed away on 17/6.

Kendra’s Heartfelt condolences to both families and we pray that the deceased’s  souls rests in eternal peace.  We will observe a minute’s silence in their memories.

Urmilaben’s funeral will be at 4.00 pm today at Hendon Crematorium.

2).  Today’s Warm-up Yoga was conducted by Dineshbhi Shah.   Many thanks from Kendra.

Tomorrow – 21/6 is World Yoga Day and High Commission of India has invited all to the 5th International Day of Yoga celebrations in London on Fri -21/6 opposite St Paul’s Cathedral, Peter’s Hill, London from 11.am to 1.00pm

 

Also at Sea Cadets Finchley on Sat -22/6 from 3.30 to 5.30 pm.

3). DONATIONS : * £25 FROM Nimaben and Surubhai Kakad on celebration of their 54th Wedding Anniversary today.  Kendra’s Heartiest Wishes and pray that they enjoy and celebrate many more anniversaries to come.

4). After lunch today we will have a very interesting debate on “Generation Gap” and as usual at Tea Time, Kendra will provide tea and biscuits.

(Many members took part on the subject of ‘Generation Gap’ and spoke on their experiences and how today’s generation is so involved in modern technologies and their way of life, thus doing what they would like to do which may not be appropriate or liking to the elderly generation.  Vinodbhai Kapashi kept on giving good quotations after each speaker’s recitation.  He thanked all who took part)

5).  Next Thurs – 27/6, we will have a health related lecture.

6). On 17/6, our President, Vice President and myself attended a session at the Harrow Civic Centre to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). We were informed about raising awareness around scams and fraud that target older people and vulnerable groups.  We were given valuable information and advice on protecting ourselves.  We are arranging specialists in scam & fraud to visit us and give information for the benefit of all members.

7). Transport For London is bringing changes to bus services in Harrow.  Key changes are for H9/H10 – removing the direct service to Northwick Park Hospital.  Other changes are for 186 and H14.  These proposals are major changes which will effect most of us living around Kenton, Stanmore etc.  For further information please TFL wants our feedback by 31/7/19 and if our views are not registered then it will not be taken into account when they make changes.  Please go online at https;//consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/bus-changes-harrow.

8).  President – Vinod Parekh announced : *Those members who had received the new ID cards for NVK Membership with unsealed laminate were requested to see Ellaben Shah on the Main Table.      * All those joining in the Mystery Trip should go to Purnimaben Mehta on the Main Table from next week and find out their Coach and seat numbers and also obtain their tickets. *  Please note that at lunch time,  members should only come and join in the queue when their line is called up.  All others including disabled should wait for their line call.

9).  Vinodbhai Kapashi gave details of the afternoon’s debate on Generation Gap.  He requested members to come and give their own ideas and experiences on the subject.
